Life-Saving Defibrillator Installed in Sesswick for 24/7 Community Access
Sesswick Community Council will soon be having the defibrillator installed on the community's lamp post in Holt Road just down from the shop at the slight bend in the road opposite Oak Lodge. The defibrillator has been supplied by the community council and once installed at the new site it will be registered on the circuit and available for any emergency. One guardian has been appointed but a second guardian is required and any member of the public can become a guardian for this important life saving piece of equipment. If any member of the public is interested in being a guardian for the community's defibrillator, please contact the council by emailing the clerk on: clerk@sesswickcommunitycouncil.gov.wales
The defibrillator is fully automatic, meaning it can be used by anyone, even those with no prior training. In an emergency, access to the unit is obtained by calling 999, where an operator will provide the necessary code to unlock the device and offer additional guidance and support.
The Council urges all residents to remember that time is of the essence in a cardiac arrest situation. Early use of a defibrillator, combined with CPR, can drastically improve survival chances. The installation of this defibrillator could make the difference between life and death in a critical situation, and the simplicity of the unit ensures that anyone can play a role in potentially saving someone’s life.
The link to a short demonstration video will help you be familiar with the process- the unit will give voice instructions for each step in the process. https://bit.ly/3zfRhEE
